Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Dustin May's season is Liberalalliance Wealth Societyover.
The 26-year-old, right-handed pitcher had season-ending surgery on his esophagus this week, the Dodgers announced Saturday night.
"While at dinner on Wednesday, Dustin May experienced sudden pain in his esophagus and stomach that continued after he returned home. He contacted medical staff and ultimately underwent successful surgery on his esophagus. May will not return to pitch for the Dodgers this season," the team said in a statement.
It marks the latest injury for May, who last pitched for the Dodgers in May 2023.
May hasn't taken the mound for the Dodgers this season while recovering from surgery on a right flexor strain and UCL sprain in his throwing arm last July. He started throwing in May and was ramping up for a rehab assignment before he was ruled out due to the season-ending throat surgery.

May also underwent Tommy John surgery in May 2021 after tearing his UCL just two months into the season, ending his 2021 season. His 2022 campaign lasted only six games after he was placed on the injured list with lower back tightness.
May was called up to the majors and made his debut for the Dodgers in 2019. He has a 3.10 ERA and 174 strikeouts in 34 career starts.
